A Tribute to Mr. Yusuf Karakus, M.A.

Please join us in honoring the memory of our Instructor, Mr. Yusuf Karakus, M.A., who passed away suddenly on May 28 after a brief illness. We were happy to have him...he carried the Sun with him, as it has been said, never downbeat, always friendly. He was (as are most ESL teachers) a 'Citizen of the World', forever interacting with different people and cultures through the bond of language.

His wife’s Fatma’s words make clear how Yusuf felt about his work and his students – the best measure of any teacher:

“I don’t even know what to say. Even though his life was far too short, he touched so many people’s lives. Seeing the support and donations from his students made me so proud of him. It showed me how much they truly loved and appreciated him.

I believe he is watching over all of us from Heaven. Thank you again for everything you did for him. He was genuinely happy working at the school, and it meant so much to him.”
